Jose Aldo-Anthony Pettis featherweight championship fight back on

Over the weekend, UFC president Dana White said featherweight champion Jose Aldo was refusing to take a fight with Anthony Pettis, the lightweight who was scheduled to fight Aldo in August. As Kevin Iole wrote, Aldo told White he didn't think Pettis had earned the title shot.

The fight is back on. Andre Pederneias, Aldo's manager, told SporTV in Brazil (with translation from our friends at Yahoo! Brazil) that Aldo will take the fight, with one condition:

?I had a meeting today (Monday) with Jos? Aldo, who said: ?I?m going to end with this clownery. People are saying that I?m running, so they are going to see who will run from who when the time comes. If you enjoy a brawl, you can buy the pay-per-view of august 3th and that what you are going to watch because heads will roll?. At that moment I called Dana White to agree with the fight, but on one condition: after that fight, the winner gets a title shot at LW?.

White confirmed that the fight is on.

ESPN is reporting that Aldo will get his wish, and that if he beats Pettis on Aug. 3, he will get a shot at the UFC lightweight belt. Benson Henderson is currently the title holder, and will fight Gilbert Melendez in April.

This means the UFC lightweight belt has a clear path for 2013. Pettis was supposed to be the next lightweight contender, but pushed for the Aldo fight because he didn't want to wait until the Henderson and Melendez fight was over.

Are you looking forward to seeing Aldo possibly fight for the lightweight belt? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Citi Chairman O'Neill not pressing for bank breakup - WSJ

REUTERS - Citigroup Inc Chairman Michael O'Neill is not eager to explore a breakup of the third-largest U.S. bank, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

O'Neill was among a small group of directors who urged Citigroup to consider the benefits of splitting the bank after the financial crisis.

But he has concluded that breaking up Citigroup would not make sense now, given economic and regulatory uncertainty, the Journal quoted the people as saying.

Citigroup spokesman Ed Skyler declined to comment on the Journal story, but noted that O'Neill had said in October that directors were confident in the company's current strategy. Also, new Chief Executive Mike Corbat said in December that the company saw its global footprint as a competitive advantage.

Citigroup had considered splitting during the financial crisis, but decided instead to place hundreds of billions of dollars worth of assets into a separate unit where they are being sold or wound down.

O'Neill wanted to look at the option when he joined the Citigroup board in 2009, but was blocked by then-Chief Executive Vikram Pandit, who did not want to consider the option, the Journal report cited the people as saying.

Late last year, Citigroup said it was cutting 11,000 jobs worldwide, or 4 percent of its workforce. O'Neill, 66, has a history of ruthlessly shedding businesses that are not earning enough money.

Why Facebook Ads Work - Business Insider

Facebook is a $65 billion company.

Mostly, that's because it sells ads.

In 2012, those ads generated almost all of Facebook's $5 billion revenues.

Why do these ads work when they work?

There are two main reasons.

One is that they are well-targeted. Facebook ad buyers can tell Facebook who they want to see their ads.?

The second reason Facebook ads work, when they work, is that the ads are well-made.

What does "well-made" mean?

We asked Facebook's research team, and they provided us with some answers.

With GOP Filibuster, Chuck Hagel?s Rocky Road Continues

Senate Republicans filibustered President Barack Obama?s nominee to be the next Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, by a razor thin vote of 58-39 Thursday, with one senator voting present. But all hope for Hagel is not lost. Just because they still want more time to debate their former Republican colleague?s nomination, doesn?t mean that Hagel?s confirmation is dead.

At least three Republican senators ? John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Richard Burr ? said that they simply want more time and intend to vote for cloture ? a parliamentary procedure that ends a filibuster by limiting debate to 30 hours that requires a supermajority of 60 votes ? when the Senate returns from recess the week of Feb. 25. ?I will oppose cloture because debate should continue and when we get back ? unless there is a bombshell ? I?ll vote for cloture and move on to his nomination,? Graham said on the floor of the Senate on Thursday.

(MORE: Hagel?s Hearing: Profoundly Depressing)

The key in Graham?s statement is the ?bombshell.? Republicans still hoping to kill Hagel?s nomination will surely spend the next week combing over his past speeches looking for just that. Senator Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, has been demanding that Hagel disclose more information about the speeches he?s given since leaving office in 2009. One potential hurdle seemed to emerge early Thursday in reports that Hagel at one time called the State Department ?an adjunct to the Israeli Foreign Minister?s office? in a 2007 speech at Rutgers University. Jewish groups immediately called on Hagel to explain himself.

But the biggest challenge to Hagel?s confirmation has had little to do with his fitness for the job but with McCain and Graham?s demand that the White House provide more documents on the Sept. 11 Benghazi attack. The duo said earlier Thursday that they would filibuster Hagel until the White House produced those documents. After the Administration responded, the senators said they were mollified. ??I think it was an adequate response, yes,? McCain told reporters on Capitol Hill. ?We are working on and having negotiations now trying to smooth this thing out and get it done.?

Benghazi has been an ongoing sore spot between the White House and Republicans. Graham, McCain and Kelly Ayotte, a New Hampshire Republican, are also delaying the confirmation of John Brennan to head the Central Intelligence Agency until the White House answers their questions about who changed U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice?s talking points on the Sunday shows five days after the attack. Rice, working off talking points, said the attack, which turned out to be the work of al Qaeda-like terrorists, was simply a protest gone awry. Republicans furiously accused the Administration of trying to cover up its failure to adequately fight the war on terror and to protect American lives.

(MORE: Susan Rice Bows Out from Secretary of State Consideration)

Democrats argue that both chambers have held multiple hearings and all questions answered multiple times. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in responding to GOP Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin three weeks ago on a hearing on Benghazi, grew exasperated: ?What does it matter any more?? she demanded. Indeed, after demanding that Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta testify on Benghazi ? Graham?s ransom for not holding up Secretary of State John Kerry?s confirmation vote ? the subject seems to have been so exhausted that McCain turned to asking about Syria. All of the news that day focused on Syria ? not Benghazi. And polls show the public has a waning interest in spending much more effort rooting out who?s to blame ? beyond the terrorists themselves ? for the death of four Americans that day, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Hagel actually got 59 votes, with four Republicans voting for him, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid changed his vote last minute so he could bring the nomination back up again, which he said he would do on Tuesday, Feb. 26. One senator, Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican, voted present reflecting his long friendship with Hagel. If and when Hagel does manage to get cloture and end the debate on his nomination, he is expected to easily pass the Senate, which Democrats control with 55 votes.

Filibustering a cabinet nominee is rare: it?s only happened twice in Senate history. The first time was in 1987 when Ronald Reagan nominated C. William Verity to be Commerce Secretary. He eventually passed 84-11. And the second came when George W. Bush nominated former Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne to be Secretary of the Interior in 2006. He was ultimately confirmed by voice vote ? meaning no one opposed him. That said, more often Presidents withdraw a nominee who?s in trouble, as has happened 11 times in Senate history. Nine presidential nominees have been brought down by failed voted in the Senate, the last being John Tower, George H. W. Bush?s nominee to be Defense Secretary in 1989 by a vote of 47-53. Tower had an abysmal confirmation hearing, which lost him support.

Hagel, too, had a terrible confirmation hearing; even Administration officials acknowledged was a poor performance. A few times Hagel got the Administrations policy wrong. Once he had to be corrected by Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, a Michigan Democrat, that Obama?s policy towards Iran is prevention, not containment. But given the Democratic majority in the Senate, and the fact that Hagel is so close to having the votes, it would do more political damage at this point to withdraw Hagel and nominate someone else. So, however long it takes, Democrats are pushing ahead, and hoping no more ?bombshells? emerge in the next 12 days.

THAD, CARSON, and PRESLEY for the Unroe family ? OH|Reece's ...

Thad_smCarson_Aug2012PresleyBrent and Amanda Unroe are parents not new to Reece?s Rainbow or adoption. They just brought home 5 children in July of 2012 from Eastern Europe. Prior to that they adopted 12 children via US foster care adoption and also had 1 biological child. Yes, that brings their total number of children at home to 18 now! They aren?t done accepting God?s blessings yet though.

Keith is the youngest and by far the smallest child in their family. He was adopted from an orphanage in which the children had all endured years of neglect and starvation. He was less than 12 pounds when he joined their family in July and they have been blessed to watch him grow to 28 pounds in the 6 months that he has been home. He has learned to sit up, crawl, pull to a stand, and has taken a few independent steps already! More importantly he has learned about love, fun, family, freedom, and pure joy. He has more joy than anyone they?ve ever seen!

Shortly after coming home, God impressed upon the Unroes that He had plans for them to go back. Amanda even tried to have a conversation with Him about how much ?easier? it would be if they waited a year or so, but at least long enough to save more up toward going back. She then felt God express that the cross wasn?t ?easy? and paid for her adoption. She went home and filled out the paperwork and made the needed calls. Soon after that God showed them ?WHO? and they wouldn?t have waited for the world!

They are heading back to Keith?s orphanage to bring home 3 more special blessings who they will name Charity (Presley on RR), Johnathan (Carson on RR), and Matthew (Thad on RR). They are amazed that God has chosen them to go on this journey again and feel incredibly blessed. Matthew is 9 years old and only 18 pounds, so they feel a huge urgency to get to him and get him the medical care that he needs so badly. He has a brain injury caused by domestic violence and has many contractures as well as other needs. Charity has Autism, which is something they are very familiar with, as her main need. Carson has hydrocephalus and a shunt, which is something that their 6 year old son at home has too. They are saving and fundraising with their whole hearts to get these children home where they can thrive. They appreciate your help with donations, fundraising, and most of all prayers!

PFT: Falcons lobbying Gonzalez for one more year

2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement CeremonyGetty Images

If you?re like most NFL fans I?ve heard from in the last few weeks, you probably think Michael Strahan deserves to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame tomorrow. And same with Larry Allen, Jonathan Ogden, Warren Sapp, Jerome Bettis, Cris Carter and, depending on your preferences, a few more players and maybe a coach and an owner.

But they can?t all get into the Hall of Fame.

We won?t find out until Saturday afternoon who will be included in the Hall of Fame?s Class of 2013, but we can already say with absolute certainty that the selection committee?s decision will be controversial, that some fans will be angry, some feelings will be hurt, and few people will endorse all the selections. That?s because the Hall of Fame?s rules mandate that 10 of the 15 modern-era finalists have to be excluded: A maximum of five modern-era candidates can make it.

So if you want to say who you?d include, you first have to name 10 of these 15 men whom you would exclude: Larry Allen, Jonathan Ogden, Warren Sapp, Michael Strahan, Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Andre Reed, Will Shields, Charles Haley, Kevin Greene, Aeneas Williams, Bill Parcells, Eddie DeBartolo Jr. and Art Modell.

Personally, if I could only choose five of those men to make it into the Hall of Fame, I?d probably go with Strahan, Allen, Ogden, Shields and Parcells. That means I?d exclude Sapp, Bettis, Brown, Carter, Reed, Haley, Greene, Williams, DeBartolo and Modell.

That does not mean I don?t think any of those 10 deserve to make it. It simply means that under the Hall of Fame?s rules, which mandate that at least 10 of the 15 finalists are kept out every year, those are the 10 finalists I?d keep out. (The two senior nominees, Curley Culp and Dave Robinson, are considered separately.)

I think there are problems with the Hall of Fame selection process: I?d like to see more transparency and a more diverse array of voices in the discussion than we currently get with the 46-member selection committee meeting behind closed doors every year on the day before the Super Bowl. But I don?t blame the selection committee for the controversy that?s sure to break out on Saturday evening. That controversy is a guaranteed result of a simple fact: Only five men can be chosen from a list of finalists that includes more than five worthy Hall of Famers.
