This weekend, we were there as Shane debuted his new ride at the Tulsa Shootout.

More than 1,000 cars revved their engines at the Tulsa Shootout and one of those belongs to Shane Weeks.

"My heart was pounding so hard, I couldn't breathe," Weeks said.

Weeks has loved racing since he was a kid.

"I've been here almost every year for 19 years watching and I was always like, ?I want to drive so bad," he said.

You'd never know the 19-year-old is battling cancer.

To lift his spirits, friends Evan and Alex Sewell built Weeks his own Super Focus midget car.

"He's a fighter," Evan Sewell said.

Car parts and donations came from all over the nation, and the cousins surprised Weeks with the $30,000 gift at Thanksgiving.

Racing in the Shootout is the final chapter of Weeks' dream-come-true.

" It kind of felt surreal until we rolled him down the ramp and he fired it off and ran third in his heat race." Evan Sewell said.

Weeks was so excited, he could hardly gather his thoughts.

"I really have not been able to focus until I got in it and started driving," Weeks said. "Then I was like, OK, I got this under control.

Now, he's just having fun and doesn't care where he places.

He said he's taking whatever the races, and life, throw at him.

"My goals are to race this a lot more and hopefully get a win or two under my belt," Weeks said.

Shane Weeks?placed ninth in the "Ecotech Midget class" Sunday night.
